Stanwell School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Learning Support Assistant to join our outstanding school in Penarth. This is a fantastic opportunity for self-motivated, enthusiastic and organised colleagues to join our supportive and hardworking team at Stanwell School. Previous experience of working in a school would be an advantage. The position is term time only (no INSET) and will be permanent following a successful 6 month probation period. The actual salary will depend on experience.
This is an exciting role within our Additional Learning Needs team and we are looking for someone who is passionate about ensuring every child is supported and challenged to reach their full potential. The Successful candidate will primarily be based in our “Ty Pontio” provision. This is a provision in school which supports learners with ASD, cognition and learning and emotional wellbeing.
The successful candidate will
• Carry out tasks and responsibilities under the direction of the ALN Co-ordinator, Class Teacher or Senior Leadership Team in class or in 1:1 or group situations. It could include running specific intervention programmes and activities to support pupils’ individual learning and/or social needs.
• Be productive and show initiative.
• Motivate pupils to learn and be sociable, acting as a responsible and trustworthy role model.
• Work effectively with other adults in the School and the wider community.
• Have patience and be flexible adapting their approach as appropriate.
The position is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
