Job description

SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Hemel Hempstead, HP3
Salary: 105 - 115 per day
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:45 PM (Term Time Only)
Start Date: September 2025

(UES1)

About the School:

An 'Outstanding' Ofsted-rated SEN school in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support both primary and secondary-aged children with Special Educational Needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team and make a real impact on the lives of young learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with a range of SEN, including Autism, ADHD, speech & language difficulties, and complex learning needs.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs).
  • Support students in both classroom and 1:1 settings, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to deliver high-quality learning experiences.
  • Assist with sensory regulation, emotional support, and communication strategies.
  • Promote independence, confidence, and social interaction skills among students.
  • Carry out any additional duties as required by the school to support student development.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN in a school or specialist setting.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting SEN students.
  • A team player with a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
