Job summary

The Education Network is seeking a caring Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Gateshead. This is a full-time, ongoing role that offers a rewarding chance to help students reach their learning potential and build confidence in the classroom.

You will provide targeted support to individuals and small groups, assist teachers, and help pupils with SEN. A DBS check is required or willingness to obtain one, with strong teamwork essential.

• Recent experience working with young people (within the past 2 years).

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Willing to complete enhanced DBS checks.

Key Responsibilities

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to help students engage with their learning.
• Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning tasks.
• Support students with special educational needs (SEN) and additional learning needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour, participation and confidence in the classroom.
• Help create a supportive, inclusive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to meet students' individual needs.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who has:

• Recent experience working with young people - must within the past two years.
• A patient, caring and positive approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• A genuine passion for education and supporting young people's development.
• An enhanced DBS check, or a willingness to complete the required checks with our support.
• Pay: £95–£115 per day, depending on qualifications and experience.
• Location: Gateshead.
• Working pattern: Full-time.
• Contract: Ongoing on a long term basis.
