Job summary

Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant for a Secondary school in Croydon. The school welcomes applicants with SEN experience or those beginning a career in education. Although not essential, a degree in a STEM subject is preferred.

The role is temporary with potential extension or a permanent position, full-time hours from 8:00am to 4:00pm, starting 02/11/2026 and located in Croydon.

Responsibilities

• Support learning activities and assist students to achieve learning goals.
• Assist pupils with tasks and behaviour management under supervision.

Learning Support Assistant

The role is open to candidates with previous SEN experience and for those who are looking to start their career in education. Although not essential the school would prefer candidates with a degree in a STEM subject. Depending on performance the school would look at either extending the contract or offering a permanent position.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working with children and young people.

• Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued in the last year.

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

• Hold Right to Work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Provide two professional child related references that cover the last 2 years
• The successful candidate will be required to register and have passed all safeguarding/vetting checks with Prospero Teaching to fill this vacancy.
• Any adult working with children and vulnerable young people is responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of the children and young people.
