Teaching Personnel Ltd. in Bridgend is seeking an SEMH Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with SEMH needs across primary and secondary age groups in a specialist provision.

You will deliver 1:1 and small group interventions, support pupils in and out of the classroom, and help manage emotional wellbeing and development within a collaborative school setting.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults.
  • Calm, patient and resilient personality.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Understanding of SEMH, behaviour, or trauma-informed approaches (desirable).
  • Ability to adapt to different situations and pupils’ needs.
  • Genuine passion for helping young people succeed.

Responsabilités

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 and small group intervention support.
  • Support pupils both within and outside of the classroom.
  • De-escalate challenging situations using positive behaviour strategies.
  • Encourage participation, confidence and independence.
  • Establish professional and supportive relationships with pupils.
  • Support emotional wellbeing and personal development.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral staff.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records where required.
  • Act as a positive role model throughout the school day.

Are you looking for a rewarding role where every day presents an opportunity to positively impact a young person's future? We are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a specialist educational setting in Bridgend. The school currently supports learners from the ages of 3-19, so oppourtunites are available across primary and secondary age groups - being flexible is key!

About the Role

As a SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support to access education and manage social and emotional challenges.

Pupils may present with:

  • SEMH needs
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Attachment and trauma-related difficulties
  • Autism and ADHD
  • Anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties
  • Reduced engagement with education

Your role will focus on building trust, promoting positive behaviour, and helping pupils achieve both academically and personally.
