TeacherActive is recruiting a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive specialist education setting in Benfleet. You will work with pupils who require additional support to access learning, helping them develop independence and confidence.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, assisting with individual learning plans and fostering a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment with teachers and staff.

Qualifications

TeacherActive is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive specialist education setting in Benfleet.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a genuine difference to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support to access their learning, develop their independence and build their confidence. You will work alongside teachers and other support staff to provide a positive, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

The Role
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
  • Supporting pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
  • Helping pupils engage with lessons and classroom activities
  • Supporting the class teacher with the delivery of individual learning plans
  • Using positive behaviour-management strategies
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and communication
  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEND, which may include ASD, ADHD, SEMH and communication needs
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals
  • Maintaining a safe, positive and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
  • Has previous experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • Has experience within a school, specialist provision, care or youth-work environment
  • Is patient, compassionate and resilient
  • Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Can remain calm and positive when supporting pupils with additional or complex needs
  • Is reliable, adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential
  • Relevant qualifications in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, Health & Social Care or SEND would be beneficial but are not essential for candidates with suitable experience.
