Job summary

Cheshire College South & West Crewe Campus seeks a dynamic leader for Learning Support and Inclusion to remove barriers to learning for students with SEN and EHCPs. You will lead the Learning Support Team and collaborate with Examinations to ensure inclusive practices across the college.

You will manage staff, oversee EHCP processes, QA learning support activities, and contribute to self-assessment and improvement Plans, while aligning with statutory duties and equality standards.

Qualifications

  • Degree and/or a comparable professional qualification (or equivalent).
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent level 2).
  • Knowledge of Additional Learning Support practice and funding in a FE college.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership at CLT level to drive quality improvements.
  • Lead and deploy staff delivering SEN/High Needs/Inclusive Learning Support.
  • Oversee annual review processes for learners with EHCPs to meet deadlines.
  • Identify SEND/LLDD support needs and referrals into the learning support team.
  • Undertake quality assurance activities and learning walks.
  • Collaborate with Examinations to manage Exam Access arrangements.

Salary: £47,804 - £57,059 (per annum)
Contract Type: Fixed term 12 months
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Crewe Campus (travel to other campuses may be required)

We are seeking a highly driven andinspiring leader to join our Learning Support andInclusion team. This key role will support the College to remove barriers to learning and participation that learners with SEN, learning difficulties, disability &EHCPs may experience, as well as develop, support &manage a high quality andeffective Learning Support Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strong, positive andinspirational leadership at College Leadership Team (CLT) level to promote quality improvement in response to feedback from learners, parents, partners, employers, staff, inspectors &accrediting bodies on the quality of services;
  • To manage and deploy staff and lead a team of specialist staff delivering support to learners, with specific responsibility for:
    • SEN
    • High Needs
    • Inclusive Learning Support
  • Manage the annual review process for learners with EHCPs to ensure they are of a high quality and meet Local Authority deadlines;
  • Manage the process and procedures for identifying SEND and LLDD support needs and referrals into the learning support team;
  • Undertake quality assurance activities within the Learning Support department, to ensure support being delivered is of the highest standard, including observations and learning walks;
  • Work in partnership with the Examinations Manager to manage the College’s Exam Access arrangements policy and procedures; and
  • Contribute to the College self-assessment process and continuous improvement plans and provide information for Governors when required.
Key Person Specification Requirements
  • Degree and/or a comparable professional qualification (or equivalent);
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent level 2 qualification)
  • A knowledge and understanding of Additional Learning Support practice and funding in a FE college;
  • Experience of coordinating or managing a learning support team;
  • An in depth understanding of the SEND Code of Practice 2014 and the statutory responsibilities;
  • An understanding and experience of the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) processes;
  • An understanding of Exam Access Arrangements and JCQ requirements;
  • Awareness and understanding of High Needs Funding
  • An awareness and understanding of equality and diversity issues and the requirements of the Equality Act 2010;
  • Appropriate level of digital literacy including excellent IT skills, including databases, in particular, Word (processing), Excel (spreadsheets), Access (data inputting/retrieval) and PowerPoint (presentations);
  • An understanding of students with additional needs and the types of support required to meet those needs; and
  • Enhanced DBS check.
