We are hiring a Learning Specialist on our People and Culture Team!

Salary: $63,345 - $67,774 **This represents the first three steps of a seven-step salary band. Candidate experience is to be considered when deciding starting salary.

Location: This role is based primarily at our Newmarket office (1101 Nicholson Dr, Unit 5) with regular work at our Vaughan office (8271 Keele St, Unit 2), and occasional travel to other CMHA offices in York Region and South Simcoe

Job Profile:

The Learning Specialist is responsible for maintaining the learning culture of CMHA YRSS and supports the creation and maintenance of LMS content, maintains corporate-level training, maintains completion records, implements evaluation, and maintains filing records. This role will facilitate training needs analysis and make recommendations and subsequent implementation. They will be required to work with vendors to procure outside training, as well as lead the development of in-house training.

Duties:

Organizational Development and Training Needs Analysis

  • Conducting literature reviews, environmental scans, and needs assessments to build and refine inclusive programs supporting the learning, growth, and development of employees, including emerging leaders
  • Design, develop, implement, and deliver corporate and department/division-specific learning programs that support employee engagement and retention and the development of a leadership pipeline
  • Facilitate and manage Corporate Orientation and Leadership Development Programs
  • Create training outlines and briefing reports on the current status of training, projects, and initiatives
  • Work collaboratively across People and Culture and the organization more broadly to meet corporate-level training needs
  • Liaise and consult with external consultants, vendors, stakeholders, and subject-matter-experts

Learning Management System:

  • Design new content as per the training needs analysis
  • Ensure that all training is compliant with policies, including but not limited to AODA and Equity
  • Support users' assignments and access within LMS
  • Troubleshoot the learning management system and look for opportunities for improvement
  • Update current content on a regular and ongoing basis
  • Uploading external content from CCDI

Tracking, Record Maintenance, and Evaluation:

  • Collect attendance records for in-person and virtual training
  • Create and analyze evaluations for in-person and virtual, and LMS trainings
  • Maintain lists of when refreshers/updates are required for all employees
  • Pull monthly reports from LMS and send them to the people leaders regarding training completion
  • Track usage numbers in LMS
  • Update employee files in UKG and/or employee files related to training

Training Coordination and Administration:

  • Coordination with the People and Culture team to schedule corporate orientation
  • Liaise with People and Culture administration to ensure supplies and ordered and available for training needs
  • Support updates to the Employee Handbook as required
  • Maintain a schedule of corporate trainings, including:
  • Asist and Asist Refresher
  • Corporate orientation
  • De-escalation and De-escalation Refresher
  • First Aid and First Aid Refresher
  • JHSC Certification Levels 1 and 2
  • Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health First Aid Refresher
  • Safe Talk and Safe Talk Refresher

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary university degree, or college diploma, or college certificate, such as Certificate in Adult Education, Adult Learning & Development Certificate, or related field preferred
  • UX certification preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with a mix of experiences required, including development of training content for in-person, virtual, and self-paced learning, and facilitation is an asset
  • Experience with a Learning Management System is an asset
  • Experience in a health care setting is preferred

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, interactive learning design, and blended learning techniques (instructor-led, eLearning, self-paced, etc.)
  • Familiar with AODA Compliance standards

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work with a changing group of subject matter experts as required
  • Demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and control documents
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks, manage own workload, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient to Intermediate skill with the Microsoft Office suite of software
  • Scheduling and group coordination

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Works extensively at a desk using a computer and telephone up to 7 hours a day.
  • The position works primarily weekdays but may require occasional evening and weekends depending on operational needs.
  • Travel between CMHA offices will be required.

This position reports to the Manager, Talent Acquisition, Students, Volunteers, and Learning.
