An educational service provider is looking for a Learning Mentor to work across Somerset, helping students overcome barriers to learning. The role involves supporting young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and fostering environments where they can thrive. Full training is provided, and the position offers a daily pay of £88 - £98 based on experience.

We are currently recruiting Learning Mentors to work across a variety of specialist schools and SEND units within mainstream schools throughout Somerset.
This rewarding role is ideal for someone who wants to support students not just academically, but also emotionally and socially. You'll play a vital role in helping children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) reach their full potential.
Children with SEND are educated either in specialist schools or supported within mainstream schools, according to their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). As a Learning Mentor, you will be a key part of a multidisciplinary team working to meet each learner's individual needs.
This role is well-suited to individuals with experience in education, youth work, coaching, support work, or mental health settings-but full training is available for the right candidate.
About the Role:
As a Learning Mentor, you will:
-Support students at risk of disengagement from learning
-Work 1:1 and with small groups to raise motivation and confidence
-Help students develop social skills, resilience, and self-esteem
-Monitor progress and liaise with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
-Act as a trusted adult, encouraging positive behaviour and attitudes toward learning
-Support students with SEND or SEMH needs where required

Full-time availability is preferred, but part-time work is also possible
Your daily rate of pay would be £89.66* but with a potential to earn more based on your level of experience.
*Including holiday pay
Pay: Five Education operates a PAYE payroll; this is the most transparent way to be paid with no hidden fees such as admin fee or employers NI. Please note pay rate is for illustration and does include holiday pay.
DBS: If you do not have a non-voluntary enhanced DBS on the update service, we will need to process a new one at a cost of £62.70. This will be refunded after 20 days of work, providing you have put the new DBS on the update service.
