I am working with this mainstream secondary school that is looking for a Learning Mentor to join them as soon as possible. As a Learning Mentor, you will be required to support the classroom teacher with classroom duties, provide one-to-one support with students, and conduct small group interventions in the lead-up to the examination period. The successful Learning Mentor must have a positive and confident approach with strong subject knowledge and a personality that will inspire students, encouraging them to achieve their highest potential.
This oversubscribed, good mainstream secondary school based in the heart of Newham caters to students between the ages of 11 and 16, with a SLCN and ASD unit in place to support students with SEN needs. The school has a reputation for looking after staff, with several schemes in place to support a better work-life balance. The school supports each member of staff with lower than average teaching loads, where each teacher is treated as a specialist and is not required to teach cover lessons outside of their subject specialisms. Each teacher is given efficient time to do their job properly, including co-planning sessions throughout the week to make planning and marking more time-efficient, allowing teachers to focus on other aspects of teaching and learning.
