Job summary

The Church of England's Diocese of Exeter is launching a Learning Hub Lead Officer role to shape and populate the new learning hub, coordinating its launch and expanding online offerings.

You will translate existing courses into online offerings, design and develop self-directed learning, and tailor courses for key groups across the diocese. This role requires close collaboration with diocesan departments and the Communications Team.

Responsibilities

  • Shape and populate the new learning hub for the Diocese of Exeter.
  • Translate existing courses into online offerings and design new self-directed learning.

Job description

Pray, Grow, Serve 2035 is our 10-year strategic plan based on the Diocese of Exeter’s vision to grow in prayer, make new disciples and serve the people of Devon with joy.

To do this we want to develop a culture of lifelong learning, to be equipped and enabled, and to be missional in our DNA. The learning hub will be the place everyone turns to for inspiration, for courses and information, and to find that next step that might help us grow as we respond to God’s call on our lives. Once we have developed the learning hub, we will join a diocesan consortium sharing content, learning, and continuing the development of our hubs to meet our changing needs.

The Learning Hub Lead Officer will be instrumental in the introduction of the new learning hub, helping us to shape it and populate it before co-ordinating its launch. They will support trainers in translating existing courses into online offerings, and themselves design and develop new self-directed learning opportunities. They will enable us to target courses to key groups in the diocese and track the learning of individuals so that we can support their lifelong learning more effectively.

The Learning Hub Lead Officer will combine confidence in using learning platforms with an understanding of how adults learn and how to engage new participants. They will collaborate widely across departments in the diocesan offices who may want to use the platform for their courses and content. In particular they will work closely with the Communications Team to enable integration with a newly constructed website and the diocesan social media campaigns.

The Diocese of Exeter is currently operating a hybrid pattern of office- and home-based working; as we emerge from the pandemic, the normal place of work will be diocesan offices in central Exeter with the possibility of some home working if requested. There is the expectation of occasional travel throughout the county of Devon (including Plymouth and Torbay), occasionally on evenings and at weekends.

The appointment is therefore offered on a fixed term contract for an initial period of up to three years. Any extension would be subject to the continuation of funding and is not guaranteed.
