Job summary

Yorkshire Water is hiring a Learning Engagement & Delivery Manager in Leeds. The role supports a business-led learning agenda to improve capability, compliance and performance, with a hybrid working pattern (3 days in the office) and a 37-hour week Monday–Friday.

Where I’d work: This role will be based at our offices in Leeds Valley Park. There will hybrid working in place, with an expectation to be in the office 3 days per week.

Work type:Permanent. Working full time, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday between a working window of 8:00am-6:00pm.

Where you fit in:

You will be responsible for being the key link between the business and the Learning Team, ensuring learning demand is clearly understood, properly assessed, prioritised and translated into high-impact solutions that improve performance, capability, compliance and colleague experience across Yorkshire Water.

You will partner closely with business subject matter experts, People Partners and learning specialist teams to identify current and future learning requirements, shape clear briefs, route work to the right areas of expertise and ensure delivery plans are realistic, joined-up and aligned to business priorities. You will ensure resources are focused on the activity that delivers the greatest value.

Some key role responsibilities include the following -
  • Translate business requirements into clear learning briefs: Work with stakeholders to clarify the problem to be solved, define the target audience, expected outcomes, measures of success and any compliance, operational or behavioural requirements before work is routed into learning specialist teams.
  • Own the learning demand and triage process: Establish and manage a clear front door for learning requests, ensuring demand is captured consistently, prioritised appropriately and allocated to the right learning specialists based on complexity, urgency, strategic value and available capacity.
  • Oversee learning delivery planning and capacity management: Maintain a robust view of demand, resource and delivery timelines across the Learning Team, ensuring commitments are realistic, risks are visible and activity is planned in a way that protects quality and delivery confidence.
  • Partner with learning specialist teams to deliver impactful solutions: Work closely with Learning Design, Learning Delivery, Learning Technology and compliance specialists to ensure business requirements are converted into effective learning interventions that are practical, engaging, measurable and aligned to Yorkshire Water’s strategic priorities.
  • Manage third-party training provider relationships: Identify when external training support is required, partner with procurement and suppliers where appropriate, and ensure third-party provision delivers quality, value, consistency and burst capacity without creating duplication or uncontrolled learning activity.
What skills & qualifications are we looking for?
  • Experience of working in a learning, HR, organisational development, business partnering or operational performance environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, influence decisions and challenge constructively.
  • Experience of translating business needs into structured plans, briefs or interventions.
  • Strong planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage competing demand, capacity constraints and delivery risks.
  • Understanding of the learning cycle, including learning needs analysis, design, delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to use data, insight and feedback to shape priorities and assess impact.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex requirements clearly and practically.
  • Commercial awareness and confidence working with third-party suppliers or external partners.
It would be beneficial if you had the following –
  • Experience of managing a demand, intake or service planning process.
  • Experience working with learning management systems, reporting dashboards or learning governance processes.
  • Experience in a regulated, operational or safety-critical environment.
  • Relevant learning, HR, OD, project management or leadership qualification.
  • Experience of supplier selection, contract management or procurement processes.
