Job Description:

As a Learning Disability Support Worker at Potens, you will play a vital role in enabling individuals with learning disabilities to achieve their personal goals and live fulfilling lives. Our mission is to provide high-quality, person-centred support that empowers clients to thrive in a supportive environment.

You will be responsible for offering assistance with day-to-day activities, personal care, and social inclusion, helping individuals develop their life skills and gain greater independence. You’ll work closely with clients to encourage participation in various activities, such as educational opportunities, social events, and recreational pursuits, fostering their self-confidence and community involvement.

Your role will involve collaborating with families, healthcare professionals, and other support staff to create comprehensive support plans tailored to each individual's unique needs. Communication is key, and you’ll need to maintain positive and effective relationships with the clients and their families to ensure they receive consistent and holistic care.

Requirements

To thrive as a Learning Disability Support Worker, candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • A genuine passion for working with individuals with learning disabilities and a desire to make a positive difference in their lives.
  • Previous experience in a care or support role is advantageous but not essential; we welcome applications from those willing to learn. However, Potens offer full training to support progression into a support worker role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with clients, families, and team members.
  • Ability to adapt to various situations and maintain a positive and proactive approach to challenges.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations and the importance of client confidentiality.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
  • Relevant qualifications in Health and Social Care or a willingness to undertake training are preferred.
  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle are beneficial for community support roles.

Hours

Various roles with hours starting from 30hrs to 35hrs a week

Working Monday to Friday Including occasional weekends

Available for a sleep in if needed and happy to do so.
