Job summary

Marva is partnering to place a Learning Disability Support Worker to assist young people with learning disabilities in their homes and local community. You will provide person-centred support, plan structured activities, and help with daily living tasks while applying PMVA techniques to ensure safety.

The role requires 12 months’ experience, PMVA training, and a valid UK driving licence, with opportunities for training and career progression within a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • 12 months’ experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
  • PMVA training is essential.
  • Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
  • Experience promoting independent living skills (routines, nutrition).
  • Confident using digital care planning systems for record keeping.
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People or Adults).

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities in homes and community.

  • Support daily living skills including meals, shopping and routines.

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this Learning Disability Support Worker role, you must have:

  • At least 12 months’ experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
  • PMVA training.

Your Responsibilities as a Community Support Worker

As a Support Worker specialising in learning disabilities and complex needs, your key duties will include:

  • Providing consistent, person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities and complex needs in their homes and local community.
  • Planning and facilitating engaging, structured activities to build independence and social confidence.
  • Supporting with daily living skills including meal planning, shopping, dietary needs and personal routines.
  • Applying PMVA techniques and de-escalation strategies to safely manage challenging behaviours.
  • Maintaining accurate and professional digital care notes, risk assessments, and incident reports.
  • Collaborating with families, carers, and multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) to ensure positive outcomes.
