Job description

A Special Needs School in Calne are seeking a dedicated and compassion individual to join their team as a Learning Disabilities Teaching Assistant. You will play a key role in supporting children and teenagers with a range of special educational needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to help young people overcome challenges, build their confidence and develop essential independent living skills.

As a Learning Disabilities Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

* Supporting a small class of 8 students with a range of learning disabilities
* Assisting the class teacher with classroom management and behaviour support
* Promoting independence and self-esteem in all pupils
* Addressing sensory and communication needs
* Encouraging social interaction and engagement in school activities

The students have a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and communication challenges. Therefore, the school are looking for a Teaching Assistant who is empathetic, patient, compassionate and flexible in their approach.

Previous experience working with children and/or adults with additional needs would be beneficial. This could be professional or personal experience. A relevant degree, such as Psychology, Criminology or Education Studies, would also be desirable. However, passion and enthusiasm are essential!

* Role: Learning Disabilities Teaching Assistant
* Location: Calne
* Hours: 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
* Salary: £80 to £95 per day
