Job description

An amazing job opportunity has arisen for a committed Learning Disability Nurse to work in an exceptional hospital based in the Ayr, South Ayrshire. This hospital provides acute adult mental health services within a low Secure Service, for patients with personality disorders.

As a Nurse you will be working for one of UK’s leading health care providers. You will be expected to have excellent interpersonal skills when liaising with members of the multi-disciplinary team, external agencies and organisations, patients and relatives. Youshould also have a good working knowledge of the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007. Experience in a related environment is essential.


As a Nurse your key duties include:

  • Provide a high standard of care to people with mental illness and personality disorder
  • Develop therapeutic relationships to optimise patient engagement
  • Contribute to patient assessments, compiling a plan of care alongside the individual, and monitoring patient progress
  • At a more senior level, you’ll also need to lead shifts as well as mentoring and supporting student nurses and other members of the team
  • Follow all codes of conduct, standards and legislation, respecting the rights of others and promoting ethical practice

16 hours and below contract – 0%
16.5 – 32.5 hour contract – 50%
33 hour + contract – 100%

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Full-time hours: 37.5 per week

• Ayr KA6 6PT: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
