About the Role

The aim of this role is to manage the provision of Adult learning Languages classes alongside an established Learning Development and Delivery Coordinator (0.5) to ensure that classes are well run, quality of education is high and learners are supported to enjoy and achieve in their learning. This is a varied role, and within it you will also need to promote classes and recruit new learners, complete all course administration (including registering learners on qualifications and claiming certificates) and support tutors to deliver excellent lessons and manage attendance and behaviour.

This role manages approx 10/12 sessional teaching staff.

We currently teach 6 languages, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Portuguese, and BSL. (There is a separate LDDC for BSL courses so these will not be your responsibility).

The role is varied and challenging, and different times of the year are busy in different ways! At the start of the year duties include ensuring that all classes are ready, paperwork is updated and prepared and planning is complete for the forthcoming year, towards the end of the academic year we are managing assessments and moderation, submitting results, creating reports and deciding on what we will deliver the next year. No week is the same!

There is a teaching element to this post and there is an expectation that a minimum of 20% of your time will be spent teaching one of our 5 foreign Languages to adults face to face. We would prefer a Spanish speaker as we have a lot of native Spanish staff to manage and a large Spanish language provision. Our current LDDC is a French speaker.

You will need to complete mandatory training linked to the role and the service.

We would like someone based in the south of the county if possible as our current LDDC is based in the North. You must be willing to travel around the county (to visit tutors and attend meetings) and have access to your own transportation.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post.

For information on our approach to the recruitment of ex-offenders, please see our policy statement.

About You

  • A level 4/5 nationally approved teaching qualification or equivalent
  • A relevant and approved subject qualification at the required level for the subject specialism (Foreign Languages - specifically one of those we deliver)
  • Good functional skills (to at least NVQ Level 2 or above in Maths, English and ICT (or evidence of competence))
  • Experience of managing staff and coordination of courses.
  • Ability to use ICT for professional communications, using email and attachments and other platforms including Sharepoint and Prosolution. You also need to be able to use the adult learning platform (Virtual learning environment- or VLE) both as a user and also as a tutor.

You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

In addition, we also expect you to share our commitment to our values and will ask you to evidence when you have demonstrated them as part of the selection process.

Reasonable adjustments will be considered for applicants with a disability.
