Q3 Academy Langley opened in September 2016 as the first new secondary school in Sandwell in a decade. We are now one of the leading schools locally, regionally, and nationally. Each week, we welcome visitors from across the country to see how we are transforming education in Sandwell and leading wider systemic change.
Our curriculum focuses primarily on EBacc subjects, forming our Core. We also offer project-based, cross-curricular programs (Horizon, Innov8, and Cloud 9) that develop both academic and holistic student learning. This innovative approach reduces lesson planning time, allowing teachers to focus on effective teaching and learning.
In May 2019, our first Ofsted inspection received outstanding feedback, highlighting excellent behaviour, pastoral care, and leadership. The lead inspector noted that Q3 Academy Langley was ‘not a normal school’ and praised our innovative, ‘warm but strict’ approach focused on knowledge-rich curriculum, leading Schools Week to call us ‘the Michaela of the Midlands’.
Our attendance and persistent absence rates are among the best nationally, despite our socio-economic challenges and diverse student body. We are also in the top 100 schools in the country for disadvantage progress outcomes over the past two years.
We uphold the highest expectations of student behaviour and politeness, supported by procedures that promote a safe, consistent learning environment. In July 2018, we were among the first schools to receive the prestigious Schools of Character award, reflecting our commitment to developing young people beyond academics. We hold multiple external accreditations for our inclusive learning environment.
