Job description

Job Title: Learning Assistant (ASN)

An exciting opportunity is available within Mavisbank School, North Lanarkshire Council, to assist children with additional support needs.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Supporting children with severe or complex needs in their school environment.
  2. Caring for children, assisting with personal hygiene, and maintaining hygiene supplies.
  3. Managing daily reception and departure of children, and performing messenger or escort duties.
  4. Classroom duties such as preparing classwork, operating teaching aids, recording programmes, and reprographic work.

Requirements:

  • Recent voluntary or school-based experience working with children.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to undertake NHS or Education training as required.
  • Experience with children/young people with additional needs is desirable.

Additional information:

  • Prior to starting, candidates must become a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
  • There are 3 permanent posts and 2 temporary posts (until 26/06/2026).
