Job summary

Durham University is seeking a Learning and Teaching Administrator to join the Business School. The role supports teaching, learning and assessment activities across the student lifecycle, from enrolment to graduation. You will work in a collaborative team, delivering a high-quality administrative service and building strong relationships with staff and students.

Hybrid working is available. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and time-management

The Role and the Department

Dynamic and vibrant, Durham University Business School is one of Durham University’s four Faculties and is comprised of fourresearch-intensive departments: Accounting, Economics, Finance, and Management and Marketing.Known for its global reputation, its impact on policy and practice and its strong focus on ethics, responsibility and sustainability, the School aims to be a leading European business school with a strong global presence by 2027.

The Business School is seeking a Learning and Teaching Administrator to join our dedicated and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering a professional, high-quality administrative service that supports a wide range of teaching, learning and assessment activities throughout the student lifecycle, from enrolment through to graduation.

As part of a passionate, collaborative and welcoming team, you will contribute directly to the student experience and help ensure that our services run effectively and efficiently. Working closely with colleagues across the Business School and the wider University, you will support the delivery of departmental priorities while operating in line with University policies, procedures and regulations. The role offers the opportunity for hybrid working, with time split between working on campus and remotely, subject to business needs.

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about supporting students and making a positive difference. You will be an excellent communicator with strong organisational and time-management skills, able to build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You will have a keen eye for detail, a commitment to continuous improvement, and the initiative and drive to see tasks through to completion.

What you need to demonstrate when you apply

1. Five GCSEs at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or equivalent experience.

2. Experience of working in a busy office environment delivering front line administrative services or having relevant qualifications for the role.

3. Experience of managing time to meet deadlines and working under pressure without compromising on quality.

4. Demonstrable accuracy, numeracy and attention to detail.

5. A high level of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.

6. Goodspoken and written communication skills.

7. Good digital skills including experience in using digital devices and apps including the internet, email, digital communication tools, Microsoft 365 applications .
