Job description

We are recruiting for a Learning and Talent Manager to join our HR team in Bristol. This is a full-time and permanent position working as part of our Learning and Development team. Reporting into the Senior Leadership Development Manager, you will support the implementation of TLT’s active learning strategy as set by the Head of Organisational Development to deliver the HR People Strategy, including designing and delivering management and supervisor development programmes, the wider development pathways curriculum, and client workshops.

Your Role

As a Learning and Talent Manager, your day-to-day remit includes:

  • Drive the Learning and Development agenda, using blended techniques and adopting the 70/20/10 approach to learning, acting as a key point of contact providing advice and guidance on all aspects of learning and development.
  • Work with the business to analyse training needs, develop, co-ordinate and maintain learning programmes to ensure that all learning is delivered in line with business goals.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of programmes delivered and provide input to continuously improve practices.
  • Develop relationships with external training suppliers, e.g. for technical and business skills training, and support the OD function in procuring new solutions when required.
  • Work with internal subject matter experts to design and deliver workshops and skills sessions as required, improving collaboration across business service functions.
  • Work with the HR Business Partner team to increase capability in the firm, aligning training with SRA requirements.
  • Research, launch, design and deliver existing Development Pathways along with supporting the Learning & Development Trainer with delivery of core skill workshops.
  • Undertake Accreditation and co-delivery of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People curriculum.
  • Lead on Talent Management projects and pathways supporting progression towards and into Partnership.
  • Lead Partner Onboarding initiatives for internal promotees and lateral hires, working as a central contact for all Fixed Share Partners and in collaboration with the Recruitment team.
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships through regular inter-office travel.
Your Skills and Experience
  • Strong stakeholder engagement with the ability to influence at all levels and a collaborative approach to working within HR and the wider business to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Proven ability in learning and development theory and application.
  • Experience of in-person and live online delivery and online content production including soft skills, management and supervisory content with an engaging and credible facilitation approach to design and delivery.
  • Experience of 1-2-1 and tri-partite coaching projects to develop and progress talent.
  • Experience of using Psychometrics and Workstyles questionnaires to create personal development and team effectiveness plans.
  • Experience of working with subject matter experts in the design and delivery of training materials.
  • The ability to work with and understand bespoke systems quickly.
  • Project Management skills with excellent planning and organisational skills with good attention to detail.
  • Resilient and comfortable working in a complex change landscape with high ambiguity.
  • Results-driven and committed to delivery with a ‘can-do’ mindset of opportunities and solutions.
  • Experience of working with Learning Management Systems.
  • CIPD Certificate in Training Practice (or equivalent qualification) - (highly desirable).
  • Experience of working within a law firm and knowledge of regulatory training requirements for the profession - (desirable).
