Sussex Police is seeking a professional to enhance learning and development within the force. The successful candidate will design and deliver training programs, support supervisors, and promote a culture of continuous improvement. This full-time role requires strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to professional development.
This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, whilstremaining two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.
Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.
Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowances and hours.

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

This role will proactively work with the business and Learning and Professional Development teams to develop and promote a learning culture focused on the Investigative capability gaps for our first line leaders.
Specifically the role will support all supervisors to:
The role will work within L&PD to ensure that formal learning programmes are relevant, innovative and accessible with advice/support from the Head of Crime Standards.
To design, develop and deliver innovative and blended learning interventions to support a continuous professional development culture for Investigative Supervisors across Surrey and Sussex.
To design, develop and deliver blended Leadership and Management interventions to support police officers and staff across Surrey police at all levels ensuring the material is impactive, up to date and relevant.
In conjunction with the above, the post holder will work with all Learning and Professional Development colleagues to identify priority training needs for first and second line supervisors in relation to investigative capability gaps and develop innovative and timely solutions to meet those needs.
To evaluate the success of those interventions particularly in relation to the impact on the behaviours and culture of the organisation.
To horizon-scan for future initiatives trends and developments and design engaging and innovative methods to help embed a culture of learning and continuous improvement for officers and staff.
To design, deliver and update courses for PIP1 and PIP2 level officers and staff employed by Surrey/Sussex Police as required.
To maintain continuous professional development and occupational competence ensuring a high level of knowledge and understanding of police issues, policies and subject matter expertise.
To deliver action learning sets/team facilitation/coaching and mentoring and other appropriate learning interventions to support and develop PIP1 and PIP2 staff and officers.
Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including assessing & specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.
Trainers appointed to this role will proactively work alongside L&PD Senior Management Team to promote organisational learning and a culture of self-directed professional development.
