Dundee City Council seeks individuals to assist class teachers in providing care and education for children and young people with additional support needs in Dundee schools. This temporary role, offering flexible hours until April 2026, requires relevant qualifications and experience in a caring educational environment.

Salary: £10,091 - £25,168 per year

You will have a PDA ESQ qualification or equivalent (at SCQF level 6 or above, e.g., NC Early Education and Childcare; SVQ3 Social Care).
You will assist and support class teachers in providing a high standard of care and a comprehensive educational programme designed to meet the physical and developmental needs of children and young people with additional support needs. These needs may arise from the learning environment, medical or disability issues, familial circumstances, or social and emotional issues.
You will have experience working with children and/or young people with complex and additional support needs. You will be trained, or willing to be trained, in complex healthcare needs. You should have good communication skills and be an effective team member who can support class teachers. The ability to provide high-quality care, remain calm in challenging situations, and demonstrate empathy, flexibility, and reliability is essential. This post is considered regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment by Dundee City Council.
