Job summary

FJA is recruiting for experienced Leakage Technicians on behalf of a large water utilities company. The role focuses on day-to-day leakage detection tasks using specialised equipment and night-time surveys to minimise consumer disruption.

Ideal candidates will have experience with Correlator, Pipe Tracer, Ground Microphone and Listening Stick, plus driving licence and safety training such as EUSR Water Hygiene. Training in Unit 2 Street Works is desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience in leakage detection preferred but not essential.
• Ability to drive and hold a full valid driving licence.
• EUSR Water Hygiene Training is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Undertake day-to-day leakage detection activities.
• Operate leakage detection equipment (Correlator, Pipe Tracer, Ground Microphone, Listening Stick).
• Assist repair gangs by providing leak detection support.
• Undertake surveys to identify leakage on large diameter pipes.
• Complete paperwork (time sheets, survey forms, leak details) accurately.
• Work at night to minimise disruption to consumers.
• Undertake Step Test where applicable to locate DMA zones.
• Maintain documentation and ensure safety training is up to date.

Job description

FJA are working with a large water utilities company who are recruiting for experienced Leakage Technicians who will be responsible for day-to-day leak detection activities.

Possession of the following current certification would be advantageous but not essential:

• Leakage Technicians must be proficient in the use of leakage detection equipment, including a Correlator, Pipe Tracer, Ground Microphone and Listening Stick. Experience within Step Testing, Trunk Mains, Validation and Seepage would be desirable but not essential.
• Undertake survey work/project work not normally associated with day-to-day leak detection.
• Assist repair gangs by providing leak detection
• Undertake survey work/project work not normally associated with day-to-day leak detection.
• To undertake a detailed survey to identify the type and location of water leakage on large diameter pipes.
• Carry out adequate and accurate completion of all paperwork (including time sheets, survey forms, leak details) and other duties as required.
• Performing a Step Test is one of the most effective ways of identifying high leakage within a water distribution network. It requires the establishment of zones of DMAs where water can be supplied though a single meter.
• It is usually carried out at night since this is the time when consumption is lowest and most stable - it also means less disruption to consumers.
• EUSR Water Hygiene Training

• To be a Leakage Technician you are required to drive for the role and must hold a full and valid driving licence.
