Job description

FJA are working with a large water utilities company who are recruiting for experienced Leakage Technicians who will be responsible for day-to-day leak detection.

Leakage Technicians must be proficient in the use of leakage detection equipment, including a Correlator, Pipe Tracer, Ground Microphone and Listening Stick. Experience within Step Testing, Trunk Mains, Validation and Seepage would be desirable but not essential.

Main responsibilities of the Leakage Technician:
• Undertake survey work/project work not normally associated with day-to-day leak detection.
• Assist repair gangs by providing leak detection
• Undertake survey work/project work not normally associated with day-to-day leak detection.
• To undertake a detailed survey to identify the type and location of water leakage on large diameter pipes.
• Carry out adequate and accurate completion of all paperwork (including time sheets, survey forms, leak details) and other duties as required.
• Performing a Step Test is one of the most effective ways of identifying high leakage within a water distribution network. It requires the establishment of zones of DMAs where water can be supplied though a single meter.
• It is usually carried out at night since this is the time when consumption is lowest and most stable - it also means less disruption to consumers.

Required qualifications of the Leakage Technician:
• EUSR Water Hygiene Training
• Unit 2 Street Works
