Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced engineers in detecting leaks in public and private water networks.
  • Operate acoustic sounding equipment and other leak detection technologies.
  • Conduct valve operations and monitor water pressure.
  • Install pressure loggers and flow meters, and analyse resulting data.
  • Identify and resolve customer-side leaks.
  • Deploy, collect, and analyse acoustic and hydro loggers.

Full Time/Permanent (40 hours)

Salary £25,400 – Will increase to £27000 on transition from Assistant to Leakage Detection Engineer


Connexus UK is partnering with E McMullan, a leading water utility company to recruit Assistant Leakage Detection Operatives across Northern Ireland.

As an Assistant Leakage Detection Operative, you’ll be at the forefront of protecting Northern Ireland’s water resources. Using cutting-edge technology, you’ll detect leaks to reduce waste, promote sustainability, and make a tangible environmental impact. This hands-on role offers invaluable experience in water network operations, with clear opportunities to progress to a Lead Leakage Detection Engineer and build a rewarding, long-term career.

Main Duties:

  • Assist experienced engineers in detecting leaks in public and private water networks
  • Operate acoustic sounding equipment and other leak detection technologies
  • Conduct valve operations and monitor water pressure
  • Install pressure loggers and flow meters, and analyse resulting data
  • Identify and resolve customer-side leaks
