Job summary

MPJ Recruitment Ltd. is recruiting a Leak Detection Engineer to join a growing team in Reading. The role is predominantly site-based, surveying domestic water systems with specialist equipment, and reporting findings to customers.

You will perform leak investigations, provide actionable repair recommendations, and contribute to detailed water supply reports while working Monday to Friday with overtime and occasional weekends.

Qualifications

• Previous leak detection experience is essential.
• Experience with listening sticks, ground microphones and acoustic correlators.
• CAT & GENNY experience.
• Knowledge of specialist leak detection technologies.
• Thermal imaging experience (desirable).
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out leak detection investigations on domestic water systems.
• Locate leaks using listening sticks, ground microphones, acoustic correlators and other specialist equipment.
• Use CAT & GENNY equipment to locate underground services and trace pipes.
• Provide clear, cost-effective and minimally invasive repair recommendations.
• Produce detailed technical reports, including water supply plans/layouts.
• Communicate findings clearly and professionally to customers.
• Carry out small-scale enabling works and reinstatement where required.
• Troubleshoot complex mains water systems using a logical and methodical approach.

Leak Detection Engineer

The Opportunity

MPJ Recruitment is delighted to be working with a growing business looking for an experienced Leak Detection Engineer to join their team.

This is a predominantly site-based role, carrying out leak detection surveys across domestic water systems. You'll use a range of traditional and advanced detection equipment to accurately locate leaks while keeping disruption and excavation to a minimum.

This is a great opportunity for a technically skilled engineer who enjoys problem-solving, working independently and providing an excellent service to customers.

The Role

• Carry out leak detection investigations on domestic water systems.
• Locate leaks using listening sticks, ground microphones, acoustic correlators and other specialist equipment.
• Use CAT & GENNY equipment to locate underground services and trace metallic and plastic supply pipes.
• Provide clear, cost-effective and minimally invasive repair recommendations.
• Produce detailed technical reports, including water supply plans/layouts.
• Communicate findings clearly and professionally to customers.
• Carry out small-scale enabling works and reinstatement where required.
• Troubleshoot complex mains water systems using a logical and methodical approach.

Experience & Skills

• Previous experience in leak detection is essential.
• Experience with listening sticks, ground microphones and acoustic correlators.
• CAT & GENNY experience.
• Knowledge of specialist leak detection technologies.
• Thermal imaging experience (desirable).
• Experience with domestic surface reinstatement, such as paving and block paving.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities.
• WIAPS approved or equivalent (preferred).
• Relevant certifications/training (advantageous).
• Full UK driving licence.
