Callerton Academy is new secondary school that opened in September 2021 as one of two new schools within Gosforth Group. Our principal aim is to encourage high expectations and high standards of achievement, both academic and personal. We are driven by a desire to support young people to create their future and be successful in all they do. Currently, we are based in a state-of-the-art building in Newcastle’s Grainger Town with great links to metro and bus transport, until we move into our new school building located in Westerhope, which opens to students in September 2025 Permanent Site Updates, serving around 1,200 students from Year 7 to Year 11.Callerton Academy is an exciting and thriving secondary school where staff are highly valued and invested in to be able to become exceptional practitioners.
First and foremost, we are looking for someone who loves maths and is passionate, proactive and innovative. You may already be a subject leader or a second in subject, or you may be ready to take your first step into subject leadership. You will have a proven record of raising attainment and accelerating progress, whilst demonstrating effective and innovative teaching and learning.
The maths department is on an exciting journey as it grows considerably over the next couple of years as the school grows with it. This is your chance to shape a department of specialists, building on the excellent foundations already in place. We are developing a strong team of practitioners at Callerton Academy who are able to be versatile and are keen to be involved in many and varied aspects of school life; particularly during the coming years while the school is growing. You will be an important part of our growing school and will be a consummate professional, practical and ‘hands-on’; able to enthuse and motivate colleagues and students alike.
