Lead Women's Physiotherapist Hampshire Cricket & Southern Brave

Organisation Utilita Bowl Salary available on application Location Southampton, with some travel to match venues Contract type Permanent (Full time) Closing date 6 July 2025 Job Description Within the Hampshire Cricket & Southern Brave Science and Medicine department, the Lead Women’s Physiotherapist will assume clinical leadership toward Hampshire Cricket women’s professional and pathway programmes, and lead the physiotherapy service for the Southern Brave women’s team during the Hundred competition.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the year-round physiotherapy support towards Hampshire women’s professional and pathway cricketers,
- Lead the physiotherapy support towards the Southern Brave women’s team during the Hundred competition.
- Lead the physiotherapy support towards professional squad matches and training.
- Work with other Physiotherapists, Strength and Conditioning Coaches, and the Chief Medical Officer to update and report availability status of players to Head of Science and Medicine.
- Work collaboratively with the CMO to ensure high levels of clinical care and medical governance.
- Work with the wider MDT to support player performance and associated development goals.
- Where necessary, and as directed by the Head of Science and Medicine and Director of Cricket, provide physiotherapy support to the men’s programme.
- To clinically supervise and line manage other physiotherapy/sports therapy/soft tissue practitioners and support their personal and professional development.
- Work with the MDT to communicate with medical teams of international and franchise teams regarding the medical needs, physical preparation, and ongoing status of Hampshire and Southern Brave cricketers.
- Continuously develop injury prevention systems and practices and integrate these within the wider Sports Science and Medicine programme, including GPS, and other external and internal load strategies.
- To actively participate in the Science and Medicine Review process.
- Other relevant responsibilities as set by Head of Science and Medicine and Director of Cricket.

About You
The successful candidate will have at least 3 years’ experience of working in elite level sport including the provision of physiotherapy services to high performance teams. They will have the strong ability to establish and maintain professional and trusting working relationships with a diverse group of players and coaches, as well as within a multi-disciplinary Science and Medicine team. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion and care to deliver a world-class, evidence-based, level of physiotherapy service to our female athletes to facilitate performance, welfare, and minimise injury.

Essential Criteria
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP).
- Undergraduate degree in Physiotherapy.
- Post-graduate degree in Physiotherapy.
- At least 5 years’ experience of working as a qualified physiotherapist within musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
- At least 3 years’ experience of working in elite level sport including the provision of physiotherapy services to high performance teams
- Current advanced trauma management and emergency care accreditation.
- High standards of personal and professional integrity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good Microsoft office skills.
- Full driving license.

Desirable
- Previous experience of working in cricket.
- Previous experience of working in franchise cricket tournaments.
- Previous experience of line management in professional sport or clinical setting.

Considerations
The role is predominantly based at Utilita Bowl, with travel to other venues for training or match days, as required.

Working hours are varied and there is an expectation that the role holder can be present for some evenings, weekends and bank holidays to meet the needs of the cricket schedule.
