Job summary

Newcastle United Women Academy is seeking an Academy Physical Performance Lead to design and deliver age-appropriate, evidence-informed athletic development programmes for its players. You will work with coaches, medical staff and the multidisciplinary team to enhance physical performance, reduce injury risk and support long‑term development across the academy.

Qualifications

• BSc in Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science or related discipline.
• UKSCA accreditation or working towards accreditation.
• Strong knowledge of long-term athletic development principles.
• Experience delivering physical development programmes in women’s and girls sport.
• Experience in a high-performing multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication, motivation and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a fast-paced environment.
• Reflective mindset and commitment to CPD.

Responsibilities

• Design, deliver and review evidence-informed S&C programmes aligned to the NUW Performance Plan.
• Conduct physical testing and monitor player progression to inform development plans.
• Support rehabilitation, return-to-play and injury prevention with the multidisciplinary team.
• Provide physical performance support during training and matchdays.
• Maintain accurate player records and performance databases.
• Educate coaches to integrate physical development into technical programmes.
• Deliver player education on nutrition, recovery and healthy lifestyles.
• Maintain and develop academy performance monitoring systems.
• Support management and development of S&C equipment and facilities.
• Contribute to departmental projects, meetings and continuous improvement.
