Lead Veterinary Surgeon – Sheffield
• Award winning, RCVS accredited small animal hospital in the vibrant city of Sheffield
• Working alongside advanced practitioners in Veterinary Dermatology, Small Animal Medicine, and Feline Medicine, as well as three surgery certificate holders
• Well-equipped practice with four spacious consulting rooms, two operating theatres, separate cat, dog, and isolation wards and state-of-the-art facilities including an in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, and more
• Excellent salary up to £70,000

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a renowned Sheffield practice as Lead Vet. Our client is an award-winning, RCVS accredited small animal hospital located in the vibrant city of Sheffield. The practice is committed to providing high-quality, accessible healthcare for pets and enjoys a low turnover of associates. The team is passionate about their work and fosters a fun, supportive environment both in and outside of the practice.
The Lead Veterinary Surgeon will be responsible for managing the veterinary team, working closely with the Clinical Director to offer leadership, training, and development. You will also provide guidance and support to the nursing and client care teams. While the role is primarily clinical, it includes at least half a day per week of protected non-clinical time for these additional responsibilities. The position offers a balanced mix of consults and surgeries, with the opportunity to work with a team of highly skilled professionals.
You will be joining a welcoming team of 8.5 FTE vets, including advanced practitioners in Veterinary Dermatology, Small Animal Medicine, and Feline Medicine. The veterinary team is supported by an excellent nursing and client care team. The practice holds regular clinical clubs to discuss the latest advancements in veterinary care and journal papers, encouraging ongoing professional development. Fully funded certificates and CPD are also actively supported.
The practice is well-equipped, with four spacious consulting rooms, two operating theatres, separate cat, dog, and isolation wards, along with dedicated imaging and dental rooms. The hospital is fully equipped with essential in-house diagnostic and surgical equipment, including an in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, dental x-ray, and more.
While previous line management or senior vet experience is desirable, it is not essential. This role would be an excellent opportunity for an experienced vet looking to step into leadership or for an existing senior vet seeking a Lead role. The position is full-time, with a four-day working week and 1:7 weekends.
