Join us as a Lead Vet Surgeon in a role that offers genuine career progression to Clinical Director while prioritizing your wellbeing.

  1. Are you an experienced vet who values time and space to care for patients properly?

  3. This is ideally a full-time position covering 3.5 days, with flexibility for part-time arrangements.
  4. Become part of a practice that is passionate about team wellbeing, with measures in place to support staff.
  5. Excellent development opportunities are available.
  6. Competitive salary up to £65,000 (DOE, FTE).
  7. Sole charge responsibilities include 1 or 2 evenings per week; no OOHs or Sundays.
  8. Saturdays are on a 1-in-3 basis, with the practice closing at 12 pm.

About us:

“Because of the team, even after tough days, I go home feeling lighter than when I arrived. I’d like to be joined by someone who values a place where everyone gets along and participates in clinical discussions, helping to maintain our enthusiasm.” - Emma, Vet

Vets for Pets Newtownards aims to help pets live well to the end through proactive care. We advise clients to make informed decisions for their pets’ health, ensuring they live free from pain and disease.

Our close-knit team of 9 colleagues shares core values emphasizing rewarding veterinary work without emotional or financial strain. We prioritize manageable workloads, with 15-minute appointment blocks, longer slots for sick animals, and a points-based system for surgeries to prevent overbooking.

Our weekends are well-organized, with limited pre-booked appointments and last appointments by 11 am to ensure timely departures.

About you:

We value cultural fit as much as skills. We seek a confident, experienced vet interested in leadership and improving patient care. You should be comfortable handling routine surgeries, advising clients, discussing costs, and managing estimates, always prioritizing animal welfare.

What makes this job different?

This role emphasizes staff wellbeing, with a 3.5-day workweek, Tuesdays off, and a 1-in-3 Saturday rota ending at noon. No out-of-hours work is required.
