Job description

We are lucky to be in located in the very attractive market town of Darlington, County Durham. The town offers easy access to great transport links by rail and road to visit beautiful nearby countryside for those well-deserved down days. Or, for domestic or international trips is only a short commute to Teesside International Airport for UK and European destinations.

Our Stanhope Road practice is a 5 Vet practice, along with our newly appointed Practice Manager, Head RVN and a strong clinical Nursing team who supports with the overnight nursing care. It is RCVS accredited and a proud ISFM Gold Standard Cat Friendly practice and can accommodate all types of major surgery. Adjacent to the practice is the beautiful Stanhope Park, ideal for a relaxing lunch break, or to play a little bit of sport with Tennis and Basketball courts available.

Stanhope Road is one of our 3 practices within the area and situated around the corner on Duke Street is our Cats and Exotics practice, allowing us to treat cats and exotic species in a dedicated stress-free environment.

Our third practice is Middleton-St-George which have been providing clients with consultations and preventative treatments for many years with a loyal client base. It has recently undertaken major renovation work at this surgery, allowing us to extend our services to include outpatient surgical.

We are offering full time working pattern of 4 weekdays per week and a fair weekend rota, but if part time is something you wish to consider, let’s talk how we can support this.

We offer a relocation package if relocating from outside the UK or more than 60 miles from your current UK address.

Role Accountabilities:

Exceptional care is at the heart of everything we do at Medivet. That’s the care for our patients, our clients and for each other – we really want to make a positive difference through every interaction we have. In this role you will:

  1. Deliver exceptional clinical care to your patients during consultations and procedures.
  2. Provide exceptional care to your clients, giving clear updates on patients.
  3. Deliver professional excellence, observing the highest standards of regulatory, practice and operational compliance.
  4. Prepare accurate estimates for clients, ensuring payment and minimising debt.
  5. Work closely with the Practice Manager to maximise commercial performance with a focus on key measures.
  6. Engage, mentor and develop your team, enhancing their skills and utilising these in the most effective way.
  7. Inspire your team, sharing new or evolving practice standards and changes to processes.
  8. Complete clinical handover and arrange transfer of any patient needing out of hours or enhanced care.
  9. Pro-actively support and share clinical best practice within and across practices and the wider Medivet community.

Your Skills and Experience:

  1. RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon.
  2. Able to demonstrate clinical leadership skills.
  3. Experienced in delivering exceptional care to both patients and clients.
  4. An understanding and appreciation of exceptional care and how this improves the client experience.
  5. Experience of implementing a progressive clinical culture.
  6. Experience of delivering strong commercial performance through effective allocation of clinical activity.
  7. Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.
  8. Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
