Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Engineer within Verfication & Validation, to lead programmes within the functional systems engineering team. This is a key role to drive the delivery of critical defence capabilities while supporting in-service operations for a major air defence system.

You will lead a growing team of Systems Engineers to ensure certification delivery timescales are met under challenging and dynamic conditions. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on current and future military capabilities while working across multiple customer programmes.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage the UK programme for the functional systems engineering team
• Deliver certification requirements for defence programmes to strict timescales
• Support the In-Service Support team in maintaining and enhancing existing capabilities
• Manage and develop a team of systems engineers to achieve programme objectives
• Adapt leadership approach to meet evolving challenges and maintain strategic vision
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to drive engagement and influence partners
• Work independently across the organisation to deliver engineering solutions

Candidate Requirements:

• Proven experience in systems engineering processes in a highly regulated industry (ideally defence, aerospace or a related industry)
• Track record of managing teams to deliver Certificates of Design for defence programmes
• Experience with DOORS requirements management tool
• Strong requirements management process knowledge
• Ability to assess and synthesise evidence from multiple sources
• Experience organising and managing small engineering teams
• Adaptability to new challenges and changing priorities
