Job summary

Leeds City Council is seeking a Principal Project Planner (Urban Design) to lead on place making, design codes and complex projects in a thriving city.

The role sits in the Environment and Design Group, working with policy planners, developers and external partners to shape the Design Code and related urban design initiatives. Hybrid working is available and a degree in architecture/urban design is essential.

Qualifications

• A degree in architecture, urban design or a related subject.
• Eligible for membership of a relevant professional body.
• Experience delivering design codes and planning guidance.

Responsibilities

• Lead on managing cases, projects, and technical work for planning and design.
• Deliver elements of the Strategic Planning Group and Council plans.
• Promote diversity and equality in service delivery and community engagement.
• Support line management and development of staff on major projects.
• Coordinate with elected members, stakeholders and partners on delivery.
