Due to expansion within the Motor team, a permanent position for a Lead Underwriter has arisen.
Your new role
As a Lead Underwriter, you will manage a team of technical underwriters and data analysts. Responsibilities include fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment, conducting performance reviews, overseeing underwriting processes, reviewing complex cases, and implementing strategies to meet business goals. You will utilize data analytics to monitor and improve underwriting performance, enhance risk evaluation, and maximize profitability. Additional duties involve analyzing performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities, collaborating with other departments, and communicating strategies to senior management.
What you'll need to succeed
Successful candidates will have prior experience as a Lead Underwriter, a strong understanding of underwriting principles, leadership skills, and the ability to analyze complex data. Essential qualities include analytical and problem-solving skills, decision-making ability, organization, communication skills, commercial awareness, relationship-building skills, resilience under pressure, and initiative. A Bachelor's degree in finance, business, data science, or statistics, along with professional qualifications like ACII and experience in underwriting and leadership roles, are required. Knowledge of SQL, PowerBI, Tableau, or similar tools is preferred.
