Job summary

YMCA Derbyshire is seeking a Lead Tutor for Practical Skills to lead and deliver our hands-on work skills and pre‑supported internship programme. You will mentor tutors, coordinate provision across the team and work with families, employers and external agencies.

You will drive safeguarding and high-quality education while shaping innovative programmes to prepare young people for adulthood and employment. Driving licence and car access are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting learners with SEND and EHCPs
• An experienced tutor, teacher or trainer
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
• Driving licence and access to a car is essential
• Committed to safeguarding and delivering high-quality education

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver our practical work skills and pre supported internship programme.
• Support learners to progress into Supported Internships and employment.
• Coordinate Practical Skills and Supported Internship provision across the team.
• Mentor and support tutors to deliver outstanding learning experiences.
• Work closely with parents, carers, employers and external agencies.
• Act as the Key College site lead for our Green Hub and Marble Hall centres.
• Help shape innovative programmes that prepare young people for adulthood and work.

Based: Marble Hall and Green hub YMCA London Road and Nightingale Road.

Salary: £28,701.40pa

Hours: 35 hours per week

At YMCA Derbyshire's Key College, we work with young people aged 16–24 with SEND and EHCPs, helping them develop the confidence, skills and independence they need to move into employment, Supported Internships and brighter futures.

Driving licence and access to a car essential.
