Job summary

Central YMCA in Leeds is seeking an Employability Study Programme Tutor to deliver engaging Entry Level to Level 2 programmes, including Functional Skills English and Maths. You will support learners through assessments, track progress and provide pastoral support in a collaborative centre.

You'll have a Level 2 Education and Training (or equivalent) and a Level 3 vocational qualification, plus experience teaching FE/post-16 learners and strong classroom, digital and safeguarding skills.

• Experience teaching English and Maths up to Level 2.
• Able to build relationships, motivate learners and adapt teaching to needs.

About You

You're passionate about helping young people develop the skills, confidence and resilience they need to succeed in education, employment and life. Whether you're an experienced Employability Tutor, Further Education Lecturer or vocational trainer, you'll be committed to creating engaging learning experiences that inspire learners to achieve their goals.

You will have:

A Level 2 or above qualitifcation in Education and Training (or equivalent teaching qualification).

A minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant vocational subject.

Experience of teaching English and Maths up to Level 2.

Experience of delivering engaging learning to young people within a Further Education or post-16 setting.

The ability to build positive relationships, motivate learners and adapt your teaching to meet a range of learning needs.

Strong classroom management, communication, organisational and digital skills.

A commitment to safeguarding, learner wellbeing and delivering high-quality education that supports positive progression.

About the Role

As an Employability Study Programme Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical learning experiences to young people at our centre in Leeds.

You will support learners from initial assessment through to successful completion, helping them build employability skills, confidence, and recognised qualifications. Delivery will include Entry Level to Level 2 programmes, including Functional Skills English and Maths.

This role combines classroom teaching, employability skills development, and pastoral support, preparing learners for progression into employment, apprenticeships, or further education. You will also work closely with apprenticeship teams and external partners to support positive learner outcomes.
