Network Rail High Speed Ltd. (NRHS) is responsible for operating and maintaining the UK’s only international high-speed railway, London St. Pancras Highspeed (formally HS1). The 109km London St. Pancras Highspeed infrastructure consists of a diverse range of railway assets such as the track, signalling, overhead line, lineside buildings, depots, viaducts, and long tunnels. NRHS is also responsible for operating and maintaining three international stations: St Pancras, Stratford, and Ebbsfleet International.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd, NRHS is privately financed under an agreement with our client London St. Pancras Highspeed, undertaking a diverse range of activities from railway infrastructure maintenance and operations to station facilities management and retail on behalf of our client.

Brief Description
The roles
We have 3 brand new exciting opportunities within Network Rail High Speed for Lead Trainers.

Please note that 1 position will be based in London for training at our international stations and 2 positions based in Singlewell, near Gravesend. If you are selected for interview, please could you advise on which location you would prefer (or if you are happy with either location).

As a Lead Trainer, you will deliver high-quality value for money technical, safety, and behavioural training to Network Rail High Speed’s workforce and provide subject matter expertise in the design and maintenance of new and existing learning and assessment solutions.

Key accountabilities include the following:

  • Lead on the delivery of inspirational technical, safety, and behavioural training, assessment, coaching, and mentoring activities using a diverse range of delivery methods including face-to-face, virtual, and digital solutions.
  • Actively foster a safety-first, No-Unsafe-Acts culture within employees and actively promote the Network Rail Values at every touchpoint.
  • Support the development of apprentices including undergoing relevant safeguarding checks, supporting the assessment of their NVQs, task books, and work-based learning.
  • Provide an excellent learner experience by enhancing their enjoyment, motivation to learn, and value gained from the training event.
  • Must be experienced, already hold a training qualification, and be willing to undertake continuous professional development and up-skilling.
  • Develop and improve training, assessment material, aids, and equipment.
  • Positively contribute to the continuous improvement of the Training Centre’s internal quality procedures, external inspections, and work instructions.
  • As a Network Rail Manager, always actively support, promote, and enforce company processes, initiatives, messages, policies.

  • Experience of delivering technical training?
  • Excellent presentational skills?
  • The ability to affect a culture change and to motivate and inspire?
  • Ability to demonstrate the management capabilities of developing, planning, thinking, and achieving?

Please note, trainers may occasionally be expected to cover activities in other training locations.

Although it isn’t essential, it would be helpful if you have the following experience:
  • Experience of railway maintenance or operations
  • An understanding of different learning styles
  • Sound knowledge of rules, regulations, and working instructions
  • Displays attributes of a team player
