Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a motivated Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join the MSK inpatient teams as a Lead Therapist. The successful applicant will lead on the ongoing support and development of MSK AHP in-patient staff and pathways to deliver high quality care.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing operational and governance processes within the Orthopaedic, Major Trauma and Amputee teams at the Northern General Hospital. They will use leadership skills and work collaboratively with staff and teams enable services to deliver effective care.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is a regional trauma centre providing specialist MSK services to patients from across the region. The post holder will work with a talented and diverse therapy team and wider MDT to continue the on-going development of services. They will work closely and collaboratively with the Clinical Service Manager, Clinical Specialists, and Lead Therapists. Within post there will be the opportunity to develop new skills and knowledge and support for ongoing development.

The post is mainly non-clinical with a small proportion of the week working clinically. The role includes participation on the weekend working roster.

Main duties of the job
  • Accountable for operational management of a group of staff and the services they provide within a Clinical Directorate.
  • Responsible for providing day to day operational management of services.
  • Responsible for the management of staff within a designated team.
  • Provide governance leadership for a designated team and ensure staff compliance with mandatory training.
  • Lead the implementation of service improvement and modernisation across MSK Therapy with the support of the Clinical Services Manager.
  • Responsible for delivering high quality specialist therapy to patients.
