Lead Theatre Practitioner - Orthopaedic Scrub

The Beardwood Hospital

37.5 Hours & Permanent

Salary: Up to £47,500.00 per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

The Beardwood Hospital Is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Lead Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.

This is a Full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties Of This Role Include

  • Lead the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across the perioperative pathway, acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.
  • Ensure that all patient safety checks, including WHO surgical safety processes, are carried out in accordance with hospital policy.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, compassion, and accountability.
  • Support the development and assessment of competencies within the team, promoting continuous professional development.
  • Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their rights, safety, and dignity are upheld at all times.
  • Apply all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures to theatre operations, ensuring adherence to professional and regulatory standards.

Applicants Should Meet The Following Criteria

  • NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with significant experience in a theatre environment (e.g. scrub, recovery, or anaesthetics).
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership experience and ability to act as a role model to peers.
  • Strong understanding of patient safety protocols, safeguarding, infection control, and clinical governance.
  • Scrub Practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification [for scrub leads].
  • ENB 998 and/or mentorship course.
  • Approved / recognised anaesthetic course.
  • ILS.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and mentoring skills.
  • Commitment to personal development and supporting the development of others.
  • Requirement SFA part 1 or part 1+2
  • Must have at least 3 years major elective orthopaedic experience both upper and lower limb
