Job description

Leonardo has a fantastic opportunity for a Lead Test Solutions Engineer to join an exciting project supporting the Engineering Management of Test Solutions.

The Lead Test Solutions Engineer will act as the engineering point of contact and lead engineer for subcontracted complex Microwave test solutions, requiring extensive experience in electronic Test Solutions (RF, Digital, and analogue). Responsibilities include designing full lifecycle test solutions, managing subcontractors, and capturing requirements for Test Equipment Requirement Specifications (TERS).

Key responsibilities:

  • Creating and managing TERS
  • Leading subcontracting of complex test solutions
  • Managing relationships with suppliers
  • Overseeing lifecycle design reviews
  • Managing technical quality, schedule, and budget
  • Supporting supplier management and Make/Buy decisions
  • Identifying technical risks and mitigation strategies
  • Documenting design rationale changes
  • Contributing to Material Review Boards and Failure Review Boards
  • Managing concessions and closure plans
  • Travel within the UK and Europe may be required

Qualifications and experience:

  • Understanding of electronic technologies from DC to light or Systems/Software engineering lifecycle
  • Experience working with external suppliers and outsourcing complex work
  • Extensive knowledge of NI LabVIEW & TestStand
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills
  • Knowledge of engineering lifecycle and business processes

Desirable:

  • Understanding of digital/analogue/RF systems with ESM and ECM
  • Experience in defence electronics, especially airborne sensors
  • Chartered Engineer status or membership in a professional engineering institution
