Job summary

Owen Daniels is seeking a Lead Manufacturing Test Engineer in Birmingham to take technical ownership of all product and system testing activities. The role is permanent with an excellent salary and standard Mon-Fri hours, based in Birmingham.

The candidate will lead testing across functional, electrical, environmental and systems domains, develop test strategies, and oversee FATs and customer witness testing, with strong fault-finding and root-cause abilities.

Qualifications

• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Experience in Aerospace/Defence/Marine/Rail/Oil & Gas or ATEX environments.
• Significant manufacturing test engineering experience.
• Proven leadership of testing activities in a regulated industry.
• Strong electrical/electronic fault-finding skills.
• Experience leading FATs and customer witness testing.

Responsibilities

Are you an experienced Test Engineer ready to take the lead on testing, fault-finding and product validation within a highly technical manufacturing environment?

We’re working with a Birmingham-based engineering and manufacturing business that is looking for a proactive Lead Manufacturing Test Engineer to take technical ownership of all product and system testing activities.

Monday-Friday 7:30-16:00 and 7:30-12:00 on Friday

• Lead functional, electrical, environmental and system testing
• Develop and continuously improve test strategies and procedures
• Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and customer witness testing
• Carry out electrical and electronic fault-finding and root cause analysis
• Support production, commissioning and customer activities
• Manage test equipment, calibration and technical documentation

Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications

• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification
• Experience within Aerospace, Defence, Marine, Rail, Oil & Gas or ATEX-regulated environments
• Significant manufacturing test engineering experience
• Proven experience leading testing activities within a regulated industry
• Strong electrical/electronic fault-finding skills
• Experience leading FATs and customer witness testing

Ideally you will have experience with:

• LV switchgear, inverters, drives and VFDs
• 440V 3-phase power systems
• HiPOT/DWV testing up to 4kV
