Job summary

Sizewell C Company is seeking a Temporary Works Designer to join the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) Engineering & Assurance Team. The role delivers temporary works design and checks across Earthworks, Main Civil Works, and Marine & Tunnels, coordinating interfaces with permanent works.

You will develop schemes meeting PAA requirements, ensure buildability within budgets, and present proposals for client approval.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering temporary works design on site during construction.
• Experience with site-based activities and temporary works equipment.
• Familiar with BS5975:2019 and relevant standards.
• Able to design in multiple materials using British Standards and Eurocodes.
• QA/documentation-focused with attention to detail and compliance.
• Experience in contractor environments and collaboration with consultants/suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Design, check and technically assure temporary works solutions per BS 5975 and Eurocodes.
• Deliver in-house temp works designs across Earthworks, Marine & Tunnels, and Main Civil Works.
• Develop and manage standard design solutions and proprietary temporary works systems.
• Check subcontractor temporary works designs and provide technical assurance.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, reports, sketches, models and risk assessments.
• Advise project teams on buildability, sequencing, methodology and cost-effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with CDM, HSWA, LOLER, PUWER and internal procedures.
• Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement of design processes.
• Support digital processes/culture/technology for project delivery.
