Base pay range

Lead Technologist – Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning

Location: Chelmsford (Hybrid: 2 days onsite, 3 remote)

Salary: Up to £85,000 + 10% bonus

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours/week

As a Lead Technologist in AI & ML, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of intelligent systems across a wide range of domains, from computer vision and NLP to reinforcement learning and signal processing. This is a senior leadership position for a seasoned expert who combines deep technical expertise with strategic vision and mentoring capabilities.

You’ll lead large-scale research programmes, assure the quality of technical outputs, and guide the development of innovative solutions that address complex challenges in defence, security, and beyond. You’ll also engage with academic institutions, contribute to proposal development, and influence the direction of AI research within a highly collaborative and mission-driven environment. What You’ll Do:

Lead and oversee the successful delivery of complex, large-scale AI/ML projects.
