Join to apply for the Lead Technician Aseptic Services role at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust

Here at the University Hospitals Dorset, we are looking for a highly diligent and conscientious professional to work as a Lead Aseptic Technician in the Aseptic Preparation Unit at Poole Hospital.

This is an exciting and innovative role for a registered pharmacy technician to be embedded within our UHD technical services team, assisting the Accountable Pharmacists in managing the pharmacy team to support the delivery of SACT for Cancer Services within UHD. The products are prepared in the unlicensed aseptic preparation unit (APU) at Poole Hospital. We value all our team members and their development.

We seek a highly skilled pharmacy professional with significant experience in aseptic services, quality assurance, or a GMP manufacturing environment.

The post holder will work alongside pharmacy professionals to meet quality and compliance standards. Responsibilities include providing technical support and advice, conducting audits, driving quality improvements, and acting as a product approver for products prepared in APU.

The post is part-time, job share (22.5 hours per week), with expected weekend shifts (1 in 5 Sundays) and approximately one Bank Holiday shift per year.

Base Location: University Hospital Dorset - Poole Hospital site

Interview Date: TBC

The Senior Lead Aseptic Technician will oversee the preparation, quality control, and safe dispensing of cytotoxic and immunotherapy agents in the Aseptic Unit. This role requires extensive technical knowledge in aseptic preparation, regulatory adherence, and a commitment to safety and efficacy. Responsibilities include leading daily operations, supporting QMS development, and mentoring junior staff.

The post holder will manage the human resources of the technical team within aseptic services.

Our values define #TeamUHD, guiding how we treat patients, visitors, and colleagues. UHD is investing in service transformation and development, which may include site moves. Interviewers will address any questions about these changes during the interview process.

Note: If the role or service relocates, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement; travel from home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute. Other changes will be managed per Trust or national terms.
