The University Hospitals Dorset is seeking a Lead Aseptic Technician for the Aseptic Preparation Unit at Poole Hospital. This part-time role requires extensive technical knowledge in aseptic preparation, where the successful candidate will manage a significant team while ensuring compliance with quality standards. The position entails conducting audits, leading daily operations, and mentoring junior staff, as well as contributing to the safe preparation of cytotoxic and immunotherapy agents.
Here at the University Hospitals Dorset, we are looking for a highly diligent and conscientious professional to work as a Lead Aseptic Technician in the Aseptic Preparation Unit at Poole Hospital.
This is an exciting and innovative role for a registered pharmacy technician to be embedded within our UHD technical services team. The successful candidate will assist the Accountable Pharmacists in managing the pharmacy team to support the delivery of SACT for Cancer Services within UHD, produced in the unlicensed aseptic preparation unit (APU) at Poole Hospital. We seek a highly skilled pharmacy professional with significant experience in aseptic services, quality assurance, or a manufacturing GMP environment.
The post holder will work alongside pharmacy professionals to meet quality and compliance standards. Responsibilities include providing technical support and advice, conducting audits, driving quality improvements, and acting as a product approver for products prepared in the APU.
As a member of the Senior Aseptic Management Team, the post holder will have direct responsibility for managing a team of over 20 technicians, SMTs, and ATOs.
This is a part-time job share role (22.5 hours per week), with expected weekend shifts (1 in 5 Sundays) and approximately one Bank Holiday shift per year.

The Senior Lead Aseptic Technician will play a key role in the preparation, quality control, and safe dispensing of cytotoxic and immunotherapy agents in the Aseptic Unit. The role requires extensive technical knowledge in aseptic preparation, adherence to regulatory standards, and a commitment to safety and efficacy. The technician will lead daily operations, support the development of QMS, and mentor junior staff.
The post holder will manage the human resources of the technical team within aseptic services.

Please note that if the role or service relocates, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute. Other changes will be managed according to relevant terms and conditions.
