Job summary

LiveWest in the Redruth area is seeking a Lead Technician to lead and support a mobile team of Multi Skilled Technicians and Roofers, delivering installation, repairs, and refurbishment services across our housing stock.

You will promote health and safety, provide technical guidance in absence of the manager, and work with partners and customers to maintain high service standards, with a full UK driving licence required.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship or qualification in a core trade and/or qualified by experience.
  • Health and safety training (CITB SSSTS, IOSH or equivalent).
  • A full, valid UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a mobile team of MSTs or Roofers to deliver installation, repairs, and refurbishment.
  • Promote health, safety and welfare within the team and ensure policy compliance.
  • Provide technical advice and support in the absence of the Property Delivery Team Manager.
  • Resolve customer issues and maintain good relationships with customers and partners.
  • Conduct pre-, during-, and post-work inspections to ensure high quality standards.
  • Inspect and audit MSTs/Roofers' vehicles to ensure safe use and compliance.

Job description

Are you a skilled Lead Technician looking to make a difference in your community? As a Lead Technician, you will play a crucial role in leading and supporting a team of Multi Skilled Technicians (MSTs) or Roofers, ensuring they deliver effective and efficient installation, repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment services. This role is a mobile role, working predominantly in the Redruth area. You will ideally be based within a 30 minute commute of this patch.,

  • Health and Safety: Support the Property Delivery Team Manager in promoting health, safety, and welfare within the team, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Team Leadership: Act as the primary point of contact for the team in the absence of the Property Delivery Team Manager, providing technical advice and support.
  • Customer Service: Assist in resolving customer complaints, maintaining good relationships with customers, external partners, contractors, and internal colleagues.
  • Quality Control: Conduct pre, ongoing, and post-work inspections to ensure high-quality standards are met by both the internal maintenance team and contracting partners.
  • Fleet Management: Inspect and audit MST's/Roofers' vehicles to ensure they are maintained and used correctly and safely.
  • Business Support: Assist operational colleagues in resolving difficult problems and support cross-team working to build an ethos of "one team, one purpose."

    To be successful in your application for the role of Lead Technician, you will have the essential skills and experience for a level one role (please see candidate information pack) and the following role specific skills and experience:
  • Technical Expertise: Proven experience in providing technical advice and support to a remote mobile working team in construction and maintenance operations.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to build relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of quality housing/construction maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment.
  • Health and Safety Awareness: Knowledge of health and safety legislation and requirements in construction and maintenance activities.
  • IT Skills: Proficient in the use and application of mobile technology.
  • Driving Licence: A full, valid UK driving licence is essential.
