Job summary

LiveWest in the South West is seeking a Lead Technician to lead and support a team of Multi Skilled Technicians and Roofers across the Redruth area. This mobile role requires coordinating installations, repairs and refurbishments while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting a mobile remote team in construction and maintenance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder relationship abilities.
• Knowledge of housing/construction maintenance, repairs and refurbishment.
• Health and safety awareness and legislative compliance in construction.
• IT skills for using mobile technology on site.
• Full, valid UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Health and Safety: promote welfare within the team and ensure policy compliance.
• Team Leadership: act as primary contact in absence of the Manager, provide technical guidance.
• Customer Service: assist in resolving customer complaints and maintain relationships with partners.
• Quality Control: perform inspections to meet high standards across internal and contracting teams.
• Fleet Management: inspect MSTs/Roofers vehicles for proper use and safety.
• Business Support: assist colleagues and promote a 'one team, one purpose' ethos.

Job description

As a Lead Technician, you will play a crucial role in leading and supporting a team of Multi Skilled Technicians (MSTs) or Roofers, ensuring they deliver effective and efficient installation, repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment services.

This role is a mobile role, working predominantly in the Redruth area. You will ideally be based within a 30 minute commute of this patch.

Key Responsibilities:

• - Health and Safety: Support the Property Delivery Team Manager in promoting health, safety, and welfare within the team, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
• - Team Leadership: Act as the primary point of contact for the team in the absence of the Property Delivery Team Manager, providing technical advice and support.
• - Customer Service: Assist in resolving customer complaints, maintaining good relationships with customers, external partners, contractors, and internal colleagues.
• - Quality Control: Conduct pre, ongoing, and post-work inspections to ensure high-quality standards are met by both the internal maintenance team and contracting partners.
• - Fleet Management: Inspect and audit MST's/Roofers' vehicles to ensure they are maintained and used correctly and safely.
• - Business Support: Assist operational colleagues in resolving difficult problems and support cross-team working to build an ethos of "one team, one purpose."

This role is being offered on a full/part time permanent/fixed term basis working 40 hours per week.

To be successful in your application for the role of Lead Technician, you will have the essential skills and experience for a level one role (please see candidate information pack) and the following role specific skills and experience:

• - Technical Expertise: Proven experience in providing technical advice and support to a remote mobile working team in construction and maintenance operations.
• - Communication Skills: Ability to build relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
• - Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of quality housing/construction maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment.
• - Health and Safety Awareness: Knowledge of health and safety legislation and requirements in construction and maintenance activities.
• - IT Skills: Proficient in the use and application of mobile technology.
• - Driving Licence: A full, valid UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications Required:

• - Apprenticeship or qualification in a core trade and/or qualified by experience
• - Health and safety training (CITB SSSTS, IOSH or equivalent).
