Our client, a leading entity in the transport sector, is seeking a dedicated Lead Technical Trainer to join their team in delivering exceptional training and competence assessment for subway maintenance staff. This is a permanent or contract role, integral to ensuring a safe and reliable service for customers.



Job Purpose:


As the Lead Technical Trainer, you will spearhead the technical training, competence assessment, and internal verification for subway maintenance operations. This pivotal role focuses on fostering a safety culture, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring regulatory compliance.



Main Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and deliver technical training, competence assessment, and internal verification for Subway Maintenance staff.
  • Embed a safety culture through continuous improvement and compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Plan, manage, and quality assure the work of all maintenance assessors and verifiers through methods such as direct observation, random sampling, and standardisation meetings.
  • Contribute to Training Needs Analysis (TNA), Job and Task Analysis (JTA), and DIF Analysis to define safety-critical task learning outcomes and competence assessment methods.
  • Design training programmes and competency activities based on TNA outputs, ensuring compliance with competence and statutory requirements.
  • Develop training and competence assessment materials that reflect changes in regulations, legislation, technical specifications, and company documentation.
  • Deliver various training programmes including induction, refresher, and cross-skilling activities in a timely and effective manner.
  • Maintain effective relationships with colleagues and suppliers to support on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Manage accurate training and competence management records, producing and reporting succinct KPIs.
  • Assist and contribute to internal and external audits related to training and competence.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training interventions, analyse data, and recommend improvements.


General Duties:

  • Adhere to Corporate Safety Policy Statement and statutory Health and Safety duties.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective teamwork and optimal customer service.
  • Comply with Quality Management System Operating Procedures/Work Instructions to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Actively participate in required training, including refresher courses.
  • Undertake any reasonable management request.


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in delivering technical training and competence assessment within the rail industry.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and compliance standards in the context of subway maintenance.
  • Proficiency in conducting Training Needs Analysis and designing training programmes.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills for managing training resources and maintaining accurate records.
  • Ability to evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements based on data analysis.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation, and technical specifications.
  • Electrical background or relevant technical expertise in the rail sector.
